Week 7

Okay, I may have taken on too many hours (21) this semester, because I had 5 tests this week and it definitely affected my grades. And, I hate hate hate modernism. So, I am glad this week is almost over. I typically read biographical or nonfiction types of literature. I am wondering if that is why I am not enjoying the modern pieces. I like things to happen. I like truth and science. I am not interested in the ponderings of other people's minds; I am interested in their conclusions. This week has only solidified that I am not a modernist.

Week 6

Wow! This week flew by. However, I really had fun putting together the web page.
I did notice that several people compiled information on Frankenstein. That must mean they liked that book the most (I too mentioned Frankenstein on my web page). Out of the 3 books I preferred Great Expectations. I read the whole thing in a couple of days. I think I was entertained with all that happened. However, Frankenstein was written with a slight poetic flare and that did make some of the passages captivating. I am not looking forward to next week's book Mrs. Dalloway. And I will be hard pressed to find something positive to say about it in a 3 page essay. I am not a fan of the Modern Period; the literature, paintings, or architecture.

Week 5

Much better week. I loved the goblin poem. In fact, I did not want ro read it at first, becasue it was long. However, I really thought it was well written. Except for the beginning with the two versus about fruit. I got the point in the first coupe of lines. Anyway, I also liked Great Expectations. so many thing happened that it was really interesting and fun to read.

Another week

English is great. I love the British liturature. Mary Shelley is one of the most provacative writers we have read.

Week 2

I am loving this class. It has been a long time since I have read any poetry. I am more of a nonfiction kind of girl. However, I am really enjoying the different writing styles of the poets. I think last week's London was my favorite. Just because of the obvious mocking of high society. Who doesn't enjoy a good laugh at the rich and famous.

End of my first week

I really enjoyed reading the poems by Blake. Wordsworth is a bit too serious for me and a bit too "wordy". The poem Michael almost lost its purpose because Wordsworth felt the need to describe so much. Sometimes the impact is greater when the point is given quickly. As a side note my MWF teachers have not improved and this class is definitely my favorite.
